The International Conference
on Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences

The International Conference on Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (ICFAS) is a flagship event organized by the University of the Philippines Visayas that brings together experts, researchers, policymakers, and industry partners to discuss the latest advancements and challenges in fisheries and aquatic sciences. Since its inception, ICFAS has served as a vital platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and innovation aimed at promoting sustainable aquatic resource management. Through its dynamic sessions and global participation, the conference continues to inspire science-based solutions that support food security, environmental stewardship, and community resilience.

ICFAS 2025

The 8th International Conference on Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (ICFAS 2025) brings together stakeholders from the academe, industry, and government to explore the sector’s expanding role in building coherent, climate-resilient food systems. With the theme “Fisheries at the Forefront: Ensuring Food Safety, Security, and Sustainability,” this year’s conference highlights not only emerging technologies in aquaculture, postharvest innovation, and resource management, but also the institutional and policy frameworks needed to sustain inclusive progress. Through six interlinked sub-themes, ranging from gendered livelihoods and responsible aquaculture to seafood sustainability, governance innovation, and community empowerment, ICFAS 2025 offers a dynamic venue for sharing insights, refining strategies, and strengthening collaboration across disciplines and sectors. As we look ahead, the conference invites us to ask: How can fisheries not merely adapt, but lead in shaping a sustainable, food-secure future?
